When I get photos sent to my phone like this one from Bastien who was snapped by a street photographer in Melbourne on Collins Street, I still get a little swing in my step as I go about my day.

18 years ago when I began making self tying bow ties the rhetoric I got from people around me was “why, who wears them?” And certainly over the years I have had times when I have had to question it myself. Finding new customers for us is like mining for bit coin, not that I have ever done it, but I envisage that it gets harder and harder with each passing year.

I love knowing though that what we do produce, those products that we offer that you just can’t get anywhere else in the world, that for those few men that have that kind of discerning meticulous style that’s idiosyncratic, the mark of an erudite man who knows his menswear top to bottom, have a meaningful place in their wardrobe.

And, to all the Bastiens that are out there that remain loyal to my pursuit for great silks turned into greater bow ties, thanks a million and keep texting me your photos. I love it.
