Some people keep the rugby league or the soccer on in the background, sometimes even Married At First Sight, some absorb themselves into a book, others lay out travel plans, some sink into a piano concerto, others start to sketch, I, on the other hand, find myself making worry beads.
And it's not a normal passion. It has been timed with my overuse of Chat GPT where I ask it to explain for my each stone, it's symbolism, references to spirituality, philosophy, or cultures. Then I ask about it's density and colour, it's clarity and what sets it apart from the other gemstones.
Then I sit down and combine them according to my research and to taste, I watch my eye as I consider which stones resonate. Sometimes I get it really right, like bang on, other times, well, nobody's perfect. But each one is made by myself at a quiet desk with some nerdy magnifying headset I got on Amazon and I have a soft jewellers mat in front of me so my lunch times, my spare evenings, my moments of void, I fill them with this new craft of mine which I am super happy with.
