I have been working with a new illustrator for about 3 months now and he is fantastic. I have worked with a dozen of them over the years, once I realised I my own skills at illustrator were never up to scratch. Yes, I have hand drawn and loaded into illustrator some great designs, one of which was my ylang ylang silk which I happened to love both as bow ties and swim shots a lot a lot.
However, when it comes to the bigger artworks I struggle to find the time. He doesn't sign his name on every one of them, but you often can find it discreetly hidden somewhere. He's good at what he does. He needs guidance, he needs my photos and my sketches, but once he has the gist of it he gets cracking, sometimes he forgets the small details, but I am there with my watchful eye.
On these two new scarves, one is dedicated to back country, which I have posted already, the other is an homage to one of the greatest photos of the 80's I once found in the laundry of my godmother's house and I thought it was enormously risque at the time given how conservative she was and how I had never seen a naked body of a woman other than my mother at aged 7.
Anyhow, I am hoping you will love the new designs, they are inspired by the things I see, in the case of the tennis girl, I had seen a Japanese artist I was enamoured with to begin with, clean lines, bright colours, from there we worked on the simple vectors of said woman who gave us the most gentle pornography in history. Tennis and a bare bottom. So good.
