I think this scarf would be fantastic. It comes from Nicholas Rutten in Adelaide, South Australia. What are your thoughts? 1000 AUD to the winner, entries close September 1st. And boy oh boy, we have had a wonderful response to this competition. About Nicholas:
My paintings are often recognised and described as:
Contemporary Modernist / Geometric Abstraction / Modern Mid-Century
My work explores mid-century modern abstraction through gestural mark-making and a bold, expressive use of colour.
I formally studied visual arts at Adelaide Central School of Art; although predominantly self taught through trial and self-exploration.
Inspired by the rhythms of seasonal change, I create layered compositions of geometric forms and recurring patterns that evoke transformation and movement.
Balancing structure with spontaneity, my practice investigates spatial relationships and how repitition interacts with colour.
Influenced by mid-century modern design, I create layers of transparent forms, bold colour palettes, gestural mark-making, and repeated motifs.
My designs and paintings seek to create moments of reflection, where order and fluidity coexist, revealing new perspectives with each encounter, particularly by playing with the depth of light, shadow, and negative space.
