I really didn't expect the food to be this outstanding. I began the night by waiting for friends to arrive and so I did something I never used to be in the habit of, I ordered a beer. The beer was a craft one they made themselves. It was a drop of pure golden water. I ordered another.
When my fellow dinner companions arrived allowed them complete control over the ordering, as they are seasoned campaigners, they have eaten the best all over the world.
What came was warm oysters with sausage and pickle, creamy sauce mussels on black bread, pigeon, steak, a cheesecake with a gelatin top of honey and black truffles, a meringue with sorbet and drenched in passionfruit.
Really, this was an exceptional meal, I never expected it to be this good. If you haven't tried Porcine, it's small, intimate, independent and not in the slightest bit ostentatious.
