I had always been really put off by people who came to me with an idea to make bow ties for dogs. "People spend so much money on their pets you know, you have no idea".
It wasn't something I wanted to do. I had intended to make my cousin a sample for her pet grooming store last year but then something happened and I forgot about it.
I don't know what triggered it in me this week but I think it was when I found some unused velcro in my trimmings container that I thought I ought to just humour myself to what it might look like.
I did not make it for my dog, or my daughter's dog, Pepper, pictured. I instead made it for a larger dog that belongs to a friend of mine. He is a very handsome dog, a retriever, so affectionate and so charming.
Anyway, I put the first sample of him and he looked so dapper, ready for a cocktail party I thought. I took the next sample and placed it on Pepper here but she needs a smaller bow and the band needs to be shortened so for the moment we are advertising them for medium to large dogs but of course we will happily make your dog's to measure with a small surcharge.
In the meantime, I must get back to letting Pepper lick my nostrils clean...
