Well I bet they haven't done half of the stuff that these shameless people have done throughout history and I am only a third of the way through. Fratricide, patricide, matricide, in fact every cide possible including suicide. The book is called Titans Of History by English historian Simon Sebag Montefiore. It's a great read, distilling each of histories great characters into a handful of pages for each. It comes as a high recommend from me if you are seeking something entertaining but don't want to deep dive into a whole narrative.

So that's how my evenings are spent and then of course I have been watching Your Friends & Neighbours which is a big insight into the way some Americans live. As an Australian I always found it unusual how important which university you attend is. It's not so important in our culture. My first understanding of that was at a wedding in Stuyvesant in New York, where, standing at the bar, listening to the groom play the piano and sing beautifully, someone made a passing remark that he went to Colgate University, in a certain way, then, because the room was made up mainly of Brown and Princeton alumni, he went on to say something like "oh that's such a Brown thing to do". I was flabbergasted, I don't think anyone in Australia had every mentioned a characteristic that was attached to a university. So part of the enjoyment of watching this tv show was seeing how groomed Americans can be to be seeded into their top universities.
