Admittedly I wasn't that comfortable going commando but I had a desire to wear one of my favourite suits which was a super 170's wool in cashmere and merino which I had sourced out of London. The part theme was Babylon, so it called for decadence. I unashamedly squeezed my tummy into that waistcoat which admittedly looks like it's going to pop its buttons any minute and I decided, after I had seen Marty Thomas on his Instagram go first, to try commando.
Commando, such a good name. I have always loved that expression. It's so swashbuckling and aggressive.
So I decided to pull out our latest silk scarf sand shirt, sans t shirt, and I just went for it along with a scuffed pair of baby pink suede loafers.
Did I pull it off? Sort of. I looked a little too packed in but it didn't matter, I loved it and that's all that really matter.
My suit was done by Akkari menswear in Sydney. My friend Jason, whose birthday it was, had an absolutely stunning velvet suit made by Remy bespoke in Sydney along with a silk shirt by my shirt maker, Roger Touma, who resides in Martin Place in Sydney city.
So would you go commando? I dare say you probably have a better body for it. And I would say this, it was unsurprisingly cooler as the night progressed the cocktails kept flowing. I am apt to sweat like a , well I am afraid of describing anything these days that I might sweat like, although woke and cancel culture may soon be squashed the way the world is heading, probably a very good thing, enough is enough, I digress, I am not going to describe how I might sweat.
It was a lovely night, I am very happy to report that going commando wasn't that hard to do, and, if the summer permits it, maybe you ought to give it a go yourself.
