A big thank you to Viva Vayspap who always stops by the Studio in Vaucluse when she's thinking about silk and accessories when she has a photo assignment. Last week it was to shoot writer Kathy Lette for the cover of The Weekend Australian and she chose a hand-fringed red tasselled silk evening scarf in satin. This image, by Alina Golina, came out beautifully. Very happy to have made a small contribution to this one. 

Firstly let me say thank you to everyone that contributed to the portrait competition. Each and every work took up your time which I am extremely grateful for. It was shaping up to be a dismal failure, in the end, worked out to be one of the best if not the best competition to date.

On road trips, I like to make playlists that match the scenery of where we're going. When my wife and I drive to South Florida, as we leave and hit the open road, I'll play bluegrass, classic Americana, and country, and then soul and Motown as we get closer to Atlanta. By the time we see our first palm trees, it'll be Caribbean, salsa, and reggae. For smaller road trips, I always end up landing on Classic Motown, Funk, and R&B.

For myself I want either a bright shirt and plain shorts or else a plain shirt and vibrant shorts. Or, as Darium exhibits, some popping silk to accentuate the ensemble whether it be plain or not. But my overall preference is to never do a vibrant silk with a vibrant shirt. Nor to do a vibrant pair of shorts with a vibrant shirt. You must exercise some restraint and find that balance so you don't look like overwhelming gangster who wears Versace and gold chains. 

I love it when we hear from you and especially when we get it right. This was what we back from Hanson the other day, after he received his single piece black satin silk bow tie from us which he wore with his wedding ensemble.

Physically spent I found it hard to get motivated these last few days. The Studio is about a two-minute bike ride or a ten-minute walk from my house. I like to use it as an anchor point for my day, some days I go straight from my morning swim on Bondi to the Studio and cut silk.

Gentlemen, A Timeless Guide To Menswear is one of those menswear books that is a comprehensive delve into the world of menswear, though you can get a lot of what his principles are and a portal into his world by following his Instagram account which is more current and sees him visiting his favourite tailors regularly.

In the coming weeks I intend to interview Justin Dean Corgan - the bass guitarist for the Allman Betts Band. He is here on stage at Nashville Tennessee at the Ryman Auditorium wearing our silk scarf on stage. Seeing our products go around the world and seeing them worn by men of all kinds in all matters of settings is a great privilege and I can't thank Justin enough for sending this one along. 

The Allman Betts Band was founded by the sons of the Allman Brothers Band - Davon Allman, Duane Betts and Berry Duane Oakley. 

They are coming to Australia in 2024 so you can bet your bottom dollar I will be there.

When did time start to go by so quickly? Looking out of my bedroom window across the family pool and the grass beyond I recall aged 7 dreaming of what it might be like to be a teenager at 14. I can recall at 14 dreaming of what it might be like to live in a dormitory of an American university with my Nike high tops scattered on the floor, just like the ad I had seen.
