What are we looking for ? Creativity! 

There is no set criteria! The sky is the limit! What is in your head that you want to see as wearable art?

However, there is criteria in how you can submit it. Ideally for printed silk we are looking for vector files as they render the best for printed silk. You can however send us your Procreate or Photoshop files but ask questions first because we may not be able to finish your artwork if it does not comply to our needs. 

Accepted files will be PDF, PSD, TIFF, AI (Illustrator), AND EPS.

Do you know one of the things I find important in life is to doubt yourself. Concurrently I also believe to trust yourself and your instincts. I am perhaps a more complicated pickle than I would like to presume. I consistently hold diametrically opposing views in my head and both seem reasonable to me. Then I have said as much on my Instagram, I am saddened to hear that Charvet has been bought by Chanel. This is to my mind the most historically significant menswear brand in the world and one of those independents that wasn’t answering to shareholders, that hadn’t succumbed to globalisation and a store in every major city. My pattern still sits there and I fondly recall when sitting with Jean-Claude in his office overlooking the Place Vendome and the Ritz Carlton opposite his fine honey timber walls, statues of jaguars, his coffee table and his book of designs here his hand had sketched meticulous designs. And I recall the visit to his workroom on the 6th floor, the wall of whites in the shirting department and the general mist in my eyes when I glimpsed his window displays each time.

I think it was Warren Buffet who said to praise individually and to admonish categorically, so today I want to praise the timeless elegance of Fabio Attanasio in Florence with such lovely proportions in his dinner jacket and bow tie and say what a privilege it is that both men like Fabio wear our products and how much as a business owner it still excites me to see where our bow ties might pop up next. And categorically, concurrently, I wish to admonish all those that refuse to make the effort with their black tie ensembles.

One of the things I love most about what we do is seeing our products in such a wide and varied set of locations and last night I was so happy to see our bow ties in Florence for Pitti with Andy sporting one of our one off pieces from the website. A New York tailor recommended us to Vikram. He came to us by Whatsapp. He wanted a full bodied bow tie and settled on our wide butterfly shape. Off it went shortly thereafter to a California address to meet him at his wedding destination. I have been doing research on a scarf I want to design and it will be a deco reference or early 20th Century setting, an homage to Golden Age of illustrators though it's quite ambitious and it will be laborious. As I often do I started rummaging through Pinterest and I found this wonderful painting by Joseph Leyendecker which I want to use as a core reference and it's so emotive that the first think I thought was "where as all that glamour gone?" . I really don't like the way celebrities and the ultra rich get around these days though to be fair, if I had that much money maybe I would want to look the same, I will most likely never find out. But we are certainly along way from the period depicted here. If you don't know who Leyendecker is, read the blurb below I generated with my chat. 

It has been a labour of love. I am exhausted. I was up till midnight last night and still working on them into the afternoon today. Let us pray they come out well. Each one is unique, each one has its own personality and reason for being. They include travels to Currango, a conversation at Camp Cove with my furniture friend on minimalism, mine and my friends travels to great ski resorts, the winner of our scarf design competition, a new work by Clementine Chambon, my homage to Hachmang’s cafe speedster, a return to old work with the sirens, a chance afternoon light and I stopped for a photograph in Thredbo with homage to Hiroshige, and, finally, some Sumos in Shiga Kogen.

This was our most ambitious design yet in my opinion. The inspiration for the design came when I spotted a scarf in Hermes at the Haneda terminal of Tokyo on my way back to Sydney. It had a series of scenes, some were postcard like, about 34 from memory when I counted them, of places around the world with whimsical line hand sketches, or so it seemed, one can’t know if it is all by computer these days, and it just had a wow factor, and to be honest, Hermes even now, even when I firmly believe our double prints are superior in results, even though our brilliance in colour can often be more vibrant, and our base cloth softer and more supple, still, even then, I bow to Hermes, they are the kings of the silk scarf.
