Testimonials - We Love Them! Tell Us About Your Experience
It can be rather lonely in the Studio sometimes cutting silk and since many of our customers are overseas we don't always get to meet many of our customers face to face. So it is great when we hear from you and it's nice to get compliments, it makes it all worth while, but it's also nice to get suggestions and ways in which we can improve our products and services. So, below are some recent bits of feedback and please if you have any questions at all - simply text or Whatsapp +61413140994 - my name is Nicholas
Notes On The Weekend
This past weekend I went down to the mountains again and I was fortunate enough to arrive just as it began to snow. A very early snow. With flakes so large that outside of Michelago that I stopped my car just to soak it all in. The first snow of the season never grows old. A certain magic feeds into your day, and as guilty as I felt leaving the Sydney that weekend, where, fortunately, I did not have any wedding appointments due, those apprehensions dissolved instantly and were replaced by a sense of adventure. My car is all wheel drive, but I did not have winter tyres. The snow was falling so thick that my main concern was whether the road was going to turn into a slip and slide and what speed I ought to take.
WHAT HAPPENED TO ELEGANCE?
What happened? It finally spilled over didn't it? Tom Ford exited the building, Karl was now dead. Wintour was losing her relevance. I say relevance and not touch. Out of touch is this terrible expression that gets bandied around these days along with reading a room and evolving and so on. We are all expected to jump on board with the ridiculous train wreck of the new guard who don't know whether they are men or women, are figuring out where on the alphabet they sit on the rainbow flag, who use words like narcissism like it's nobody's business. And because the rest of us sit in fear of cancellation and therefore remain silent, we watch these people and I say "these people" with a touch of humour because I really don't know who "these people" are and I don't think if you could narrow them down to a "people" that they would know themselves who they are either. That is part of the conundrum. Everyone is so freely moving around these days exploring themselves that they have become like Viet Cong in the jungle, they are are everywhere, but trying to find a fixed location on one target, impossible.
What's With The Tennis Bracelets?
Don't get me wrong, I was dead against the stacks for a long time. So much so that I would lay into a particular friend that used to turn up to our beach swims in the mornings with the latest Nike and Adidas sportwear and a big stack on his arm behind his apple watch. But, I caved in. Firstly I caved in because this same person had a memento mori skull bracelet - and I have always been a fan of anything memento mori. Then later still I came to embrace something, well, something that might have only spawned out of the transgender confusion and milieu that came over the past few years as everyone got lost in the pronouns and everything got shoved into the blender, on the other side of it all, no, I would venture to say, quietly during all the confusion, that's better, I decided well to hell with it I am going to start wearing tennis bracelets if nobody knows anymore what is Martha and what is Arthur. This new project is a tri colour RZ stone on a sterling silver setting which is for the unisexuals, the gender 0's and gender 1's and the gender 10 and 01's. In this new world you can wear anything you want to, and I choose tennis bracelets because I once wore heels as Dame Edna and let me tell you this, life's a bitch when you want to be a lady.
Valkyrie - The Next Limited Edition Printed Silk
I was rather happy that Lucy, who has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting on many of our more recent silks, suggested that she might contribute one of her own designs to the next round of printing. Valkyrie is the result, the Nordic goddess who transported slain men to the Valhalla where they would become great warriors in the sky who, in between campaigns, would be served mead by the Valkyrie. I really love how strong this image is and the details are exceptional. I will look forward to seeing the end result. Coming soon. Book yours on +61413140994 by text or Whatsapp.
FAREWELL EDNA
It was extremely sad for me to hear the news of Barry Humphries' passing. I recall not that many years ago seeing him in Launceston airport on my way home from the Central Highlands. At the baggage carousel in Sydney I walked up to him, handed him my business card, told him what a fan I was, said I'd love him to visit the Studio... I never heard from him. He just nodded his head.

Black Silk Bow Ties - A Guide To Choosing Them
One would presume when talking on the subject of black silk neck ties that the discourse would be short. Black satin or grosgrain, a butterfly shape, what’s there to talk about? Right?

Thoughts on Como And What I Told La Provincia
There are places you go to when you are younger as a tourist on a bus or a boat. I grew up in an aspirational middle class, the grandson of a fishmonger on one side and a cafe owner on the other. My father worked very hard and was successful and his passion was travel. So he would bundle us all up at every chance he got and we would go to all sorts of places but always, seemingly, in a hurry. So as a young boy I had a different desire, I always wanted to go somewhere and plonk myself long enough that I felt like I was a local. Unfortunately, I wasn’t gifted enough in any of my skills that I was seconded anywhere nor did I strike a career path in my own business that allowed me to freely get up and go work anywhere in the world. So by the time I found my craft I was well and truly fixed in my city, Sydney, Australia.
