Today I thought I would write about what we have been up to. For the most part it’s just been black tie and weddings with the slow and more considered development of silks for weaving.

To begin with, I would like to acknowledge Ethan Archer, a hobbyist perfumer, who stopped past the Studio early this week to exchange ideas about perfume and he was seeking some of the materials I use in perfume, having given him a sample of my white ambergris some weeks ago. One of the articles I read was on how to apply perfume and I thought I would add my own two cents worth, though his article is pretty comprehensive.

It struck me as odd but acceptable that one of most loyal customers for years was surprised when he saw me sketching a silk one day. I told him that I was designing a new silk and he said "you design your own silks?" .

Admittedly he was a fan of our Japanese yuzen bow ties but I had never considered that any of customers hadn't worked out that we design our own silks from scratch.
