The Greatest Luxury Of All Has Been Given To Us In Bucket Loads - Time - And How We Now Spend It

The Greatest Luxury Of All Has Been Given To Us In Bucket Loads - Time - And How We Now Spend It

It is only this week that I have started to make better use of the time on my hands to do things that pleasure me and one of them was to begin making new music playlists on Spotify which take a long while to create. You really need time on your hands to make a Spotify playlist that's from your own taste and you need to run down a hole bunch of rabbit holes just to find one great song that will have a lasting impression. One such song was Tezeta by Mulatu Astatke , which I highly encourage you to click on whilst you are reading this post, because I am writing this post in the same way that this nonchalant jazz song floats.

In The Garden Of Earthly Delights ....

In The Garden Of Earthly Delights ....

In a time when there is so much uncertainty, when things look like they might spiral into hell, concurrently we have produced some of our most impressive work to date. Go figure. As a farmer once said to me many moons back: "How do you make God laugh? Tell him you have a plan!" . I have never forgotten that. It's one of those lines that comes back every time life throws you a cure ball. But, what choice to we have other than to adapt, change and move on. And if you feel confident enough, consider purchasing one of our earthly delights - because to my mind, sporting a bow tie right now might just calm the rest of the rabble down and remind them of civilization and that Rome still stands.

New Cushions - Slowly Trickling In

New Cushions - Slowly Trickling In

Our new prototypes for cushions and pillow slips are finished and I have been entertaining myself by chopping up silks from our collection and filling my own home with them as we try to perfect (though one never reaches perfection, perhaps the word is hone or refine) our make and slowly slowly they are becoming little works of art that make me very happy because it's another way I can engage my silks on a daily basis. A few of our best customers and some of our suppliers have received one on the house. I am still awaiting their feedback. Without wanting to sound pretentious, though I can be, they are made of silks that I doubt any other companies in the world today are using in production and I am super proud to be working with the silk looms that I do, because knowing that you are using the best ingredients, whether it's a cushion, a bow tie or anything else we produce, just makes it that much more unique than what else is on offer out there. And to our customers, I invite you to contact me should you ever see a silk you want as a cushion or pillow slip, we can turn them around within 72 hours. As always, I am available on WhatsApp on +61413140994 .

A Very Good Day To Shop Our Website

A Very Good Day To Shop Our Website

There is not really more money you can spend on designing, setting up and weaving silk than we spend on it. Aside from going down the path of weaving real gold thread. This is perhaps the last aspect of silk weaving we haven't considered. Our new Boticelli fabrics are sublime. Unique fabrics that will stand the test of time as some of the most heavily invested in fabrics we've done to date. We've made silks that are the highest possible level of production in satins for example, where warp and weft are made of the same yarn and densely woven at 170 pic. It was unheard of when I first put my hand across it and so rich and lustrous. But then, that's plain fabrics and most regular bow tie wearers don't crave satin silks for their every day attire. Anyway, it's the middle of the pandemic, so today I suspect these bow ties will not be sold until the last sale codes are delivered. Which means it's a very good day to shop our website.

Liebre Style - A Brand With Truly A Point Of Difference That I Hope Will Survive The Pandemic

Liebre Style - A Brand With Truly A Point Of Difference That I Hope Will Survive The Pandemic

Right now it's survival mode for most small businesses. Strapped for cash, unable to go about their business as usual, pushing to drive to online models, relying on slowed down logistics, it is not an easy fight. I like to call in-store sales "hand-to-hand combat" , you get right up and close with your customer, you can truly show them what it is you do, the quality of what you make, why you do it, and the reason you might charge more than your competition, or less as it happens some time.

DIY PLEATED FACE MASK AT HOME

Probably our most loved shape and pattern, we offer our three pleated mask out as a tutorial to anyone who wants to make them at home. It is by far the most practical for every day use.

You will need scissors, a piece of cardboard cut into a 23cm square, some pins, thread, a sewing machine and a capable pair of hands.

Once the two pieces of fabric are cut, simply follow the tutorial below.

It is not difficult to alter the pattern (as it is square) in order to allow for smaller faces for children. You will also need to adjust the elastic depending on the thickness of the elastic.

Our recommendation is 1.5mm elastic which is more comfortable for the ears - but this also means that over time the elastic will lose some tension that wider elastics offer.

We cut our elastic at roughly 8 inches on either side but this can change depending on elastics and the fabrics selected for a face mask.

Good luck and if you want my personal attention you can Whatsapp me on +61413140994 .

They Stay Loyal And They Reward Us - Our Customers That Is

Our customers tend to stay loyal to us because they know we look after them and quite often they get extremely good offers so they keep coming back. This is Michael, as much a friend as a customer. We must exchange a Whatsapp or two every other week. He is currently in Palm Springs, California.

Brand New Designs Will Flow From Confine

Brand New Designs Will Flow From Confine

My hope is that you end up appreciating the time and enormous money we throw at fabrics along with the cost of making out products in Australia. Lately it has been rather depressing to see how much we have had to discount stock to get it out there into the public - especially the face masks - but whatever - we are happy you are wearing them and the other day it was especially satisfying to see the smile on my seamstresses faces.

We Can Make Hand-Made Cushions From Any Of Our Superlative Fabrics

We Can Make Hand-Made Cushions From Any Of Our Superlative Fabrics

On this cushion, which I kept for myself, we took a 90x90 piece of printed silk, our very own Brazilian Carnival Dancer, then we took an orange organzina satin silk to form the piping and on the reverse is an Italian Raedelli velvet in a rich midnight blue. The finished size is 60x60 and it makes for a wonderful ornamental pillow/cushion for a bed which otherwise is finished very simply.

Alessandra Porenta - Austrian Show Jumper And Now Face Mask Wearer

One person at a time. Alessandra was living in Sydney, Australia but returned home just prior to the Sydney lockdown and thanksfully she is safe and well but finding confinement difficult and taxing emotionally. They have a strict lockdown policy over there which means she can go to the pharmacy for medication, to the supermarket for essentials, but that's it. Save one other thing - she can go and take her horse for a walk - which she does gleefully. Thanks Alessandra, we stay in contact via Whatsapp and I like to hear everyone's story during this extremely unusual time.
